HURIYAH MAGAZINE
You are probably wondering what this magazine is all about. Well,
here are some of the things you might be wondering about:
Link: http://www.huriyahmag.com
Our list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/huriyahmag
Background: Huriyah, which means "Freedom" in Arabic, is the largest
queer Muslim media with more than 200 representatives in over 70
countries, most of which are predominantly Muslim countries. It was
founded early 2002 and begun its publishing June 2002.
People involved with the magazine: Afdhere Jama, a Somali-born queer
Muslim, is the current Editor of Huriyah. JS Omar, an Indian-born gay
Muslim, is the Managing Editor. Abdul-Hadi bin Malik is the Copy
Editor. Abu Omar, an Egyptian-born bisexual Muslim, and Sharifa
Ismail, an Iraqi-born lesbian Muslim, are on the Advisory Board. You
can contact any of these people by going to the website and clicking
on "Contact."
Language(s): Currently, the magazine's English version is online only.
We have an Arabic version that gets distributed throughout out many
countries that speak Arabic in the Middle East. And on our website we
have a feature where you can translate your own language through a
translator.
Contribution: The magazine's contribution comes from many different
people, including non-Muslims and non-queers. Most of the
contribution, however, comes from the queer Muslim community. You can
contribute by going to the website and clicking on "Contact."
