Author Salman Rushdie stabbed on lecture stage in New York, police confirm

CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. -- Salman Rushdie, the author whose writing led to death
threats from Iran in the 1980s, was attacked Friday as he was about to
give a lecture in western New York.

An Associated Press reporter witnessed a man storm the stage at the
Chautauqua Institution and begin punching or stabbing Rushdie as he was
being introduced. The author was taken or fell to the floor, and the man
was restrained.

Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck, according to New York
State Police, and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital.

NYSP says the suspect has been taken into custody.

At an ongoing press conference about red flag laws, Governor Kathy Hochul
called the attack on Rushdie "heartbreaking."

"He is alive," Hochul said, and "is getting the care he needs at a local
hospital."

Hochul says that a state police trooper "stood up and saved his life"
after the attack.

Rushdie's book "The Satanic Verses" has been banned in Iran since 1988, as
many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous. A year later, Iran's late
leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, calling for
Rushdie's death.

A bounty of over $3 million has also been offered for anyone who kills
Rushdie.

Iran's government has long since distanced itself from Khomeini's decree,
but anti-Rushdie sentiment lingered. In 2012, a semi-official Iranian
religious foundation raised the bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to
$3.3 million.

Rushdie dismissed that threat at the time, saying there was "no evidence"
of people being interested in the reward.

That year, Rushdie published a memoir, "Joseph Anton," about the fatwa.

As I have been told (I haven't read the book myself), the Rushdie's work says
that the Prophet had a vision of a tribe joining him but they were treacherous,
so he declared later that this particular verse about this tribe was actually from
Satan, as it was proven false.

As I believe that Prophet Mohammad was truly inspired and lead by the Almighty,
his human characteristics made him prone to errors as he was a Prophet of the
Almighty and not the Almighty Himself. It is possible that the Almighty tempted
him as he tested every single servant of His in the Old and New Testament of
the Book.

This doesn't diminish the value of the honourable Qur'an, but on the contrary,
makes the Scripture something tested and proven. Qur'an however cannot be
understood without Holy Spirit, as its language even in original Arabic is deeply
symbolic and connected to the time, place and circumstances; unfortunately
partially lost. Thereof subject to numerous misinterpretations and schisms of Islam.
The most obvious being Sunny and Shia Islam.

Islam must allow reevaluation of the interpretations of the sacred Scripture or
it might become stale and fail to connect with time.

One obvious example is the ancient punishment of hand mutilation if one is caught
in theft, even minor theft for food.

Let us go from the contrary, can we substitute an arm to a man who had lost it in
a just war or as a civilian casualty of some drone attack? Many have tried to develop
a prosthetic arm and none of them comes even close to what the Almighty created and
we take for granted.

One obvious example is an attempt to handle servomotors to move artificial fingers.
Designers found that it is impractical to put motors on each finger, and that they
have to follow the example of human original hand and put motors in the lower arm
and only tendons to move fingers. But God had known this before creation of time!

Obviously, if we are not able to repeat God's handiwork, what right do we have to
sever an arm of a child that stole an apple because it was starving?

If we cannot bring man to life, what right do we have to kill or murder?
Because he drank a cup of whiskey or beer? Or because he blasphemed?

Let God be their judge.

And I will tell you why.

1. The existence of the capital punishment doesn't make citizens commit less crimes
(example: the USA)
2. Conformity to law because of the fear of death penalty doesn't mean they will also be upright
in the absence of the penalty of death (like in Paradise)

Thereof, though they may be more order under repressive regimes, the people that are not
tempted to do evil are not necessarily so good that they would not sin if the restraint is removed.

What is the value of good that is good only because of the fear of the punishment? Great,
but it is not perfect. Apostle Paul, in his corrected original teachings that do not promote
or endorse Trinitarian dogma, never promoted death nor converted anyone with death threat
other than threat of eternal punishment and Judgment of God Creator.

By this I pray that you will understand that though people and nations were converted into religion by
"fire and sword", eventually true inwards out conversion comes only from preaching and knowledge
of the Word of God. When man or woman are spiritually born again from the Knowledge of the Truth.

And this is what I believe you want to spread: Truth, not fear of death, which also dictators of communism
and atheism can spread.

But I believe you want to teach Truth unto salvation of the soul to eternal God Creator.
May He also guide you on the right path, as I believe you will follow the true path of Mercy and Truth,
and not personal power or anger.
